FAQ's
1. What if I change my address?
The system will update the distance claim only on those courses you have not completed for approval. Those courses that have been completed and submitted are locked.
2. How does the system calculate my subsistence claim?
The following subsistence rates are used:
|
a) Overnight - No Meal |
€107.69 |
|
b) Overnight - With Meal |
€93.98 |
|

|

3. How is distance calculated?
The system uses Google Maps to calculate your distance. It will compare your home address to the location of your local Education Centre and calculate the distance - the shortest distance is used for the claim.
- 0.3912 c/km = up to 1200cc
- 0.4625 c/km = up to 1500cc
- 0.5907 c/km = over 1500cc
4. Why is the distance shown on my claim incorrect?
The system uses Google Maps to calculate your distance. If the distance is incorrect either check your home / local education centre location in your profile is correct - re-enter and save your home address, OR your team leader has entered incorrect co-ordinates for the course - contact your team leader to check this.
5. What if I travel from Home base to Course location then onwards again to another Course location?
Example:
I travelled from Killarney base on January 18 to Navan for JC Science Coursework B workshop on January 19 and from there to Athlone for a PDST planning meeting on January 20. I stayed in Athlone for another Coursework B workshop in Athlone EC on January 21 and went home to Killarney that evening. I think the system inputted travel from Killarney each time and am unable to view or edit.
ANSWER: The system allows you to input a different return journey mileage however if you have already submitted the claim it is then locked and you need to contact your team leader with the total distance of your return journey.
However in your case as you are not returning to your base (home or Edcentre) you are correct that the system automatically calculates your distance from your base location per claim using google maps.
It would be best to put a Comment in your claim with your actual distances then your team leader can enter these directly into the spreadsheet export that is sent to Blackrock.
So it would be
Course A = Killarney > Navan = 348km (Different return journey = Yes set to 0)
Course B = Navan > Athlone = Enter Comment below claim "Outbound journey was from Navan to Athlone 106km" then set (Different return journey = Yes set to 223)
Your team leader then updates the exported claim spreadsheet with 106km in the outbound journey column
